Meetings notes November 8, 2007.
Meeting called to order by President Lee Donaldson at 1955 hours.

Brother Madero offered the opening invocation.
Approval of the minutes from the meeting Oct. 2007 meeting.
Motion for approval was made by Brother Madero. Seconded by Brother Sease.
No discussion.
Minutes were approved by unanimous vote.
Guest Speakers:
Terry McGrath, Attorney at Law, made a presentation about LEOBR and recent changes. Lodge 9 would like to thank Terry for taking the time to come out and address some questions that members had.
Representatives from the Police Federal Credit Union made a presentation about accounts and services available through the PFCU. To get more information about them and what they offer visit: http://www.policefcu.com.
Reports of Officers:
President Donaldson reported on his attendance at the State Lodge Meeting on Nov. 3rd.

2nd Vice President: excused
Secretary: No Report
Treasurer: President Donaldson announced the resignation of Brother Peter Jensen, leaving the Treasurer postition vacant. Additionally, President Donaldson reported that he had received a financial report from Brother Jensen, but that due to a duplication of check numbers in recent years the financial records would require sorting and clarification to confirm funds available.
In honor of Brother Jensen's long and dedicated service to Lodge 9, Trustee Borelli made a motion to grant Brother Jensen a lifetime membership in the Lodge. 1st Vice President Enig seconded the motion. By unanimous vote of the membership present, Brother Jensen was granted said lifetime membership with no meeting attendance requirement.

State Trustee: Reviewed a couple points from State Lodge meeting:
- Raising of National per capita from $6.50 to $9.50 beginning September '08
- Announcement of next State Lodge meeting in Easton, MD January 26th, 2008
- Announcement of Biennial State Conference held in Solomon's Island the weekend of August 17th - 20th, 2008
- Brother AJ Ortiz, from Mt. Rainier Lodge, has been facing a medical challenge. In support of Brother Ortiz and his family, a motion was made by Brother Madero for Lodge #9 to donate $250 to the Ortiz family. Brother Sease seconded the motion. The motion passed by unanimous vote of the membership present.
Old Business:
- Raising annual dues from $90 to $100: discussion was had on how this would help to offset the increase in per capita. Further action held until December '08 meeting.
- Final design approval of Lodge #9 Challenge Coin: print of design was provided to all attending members. Final design selected can be viewed on the Coin Image page. Motion was made by Brother Fraley to approve the design and order the coins. Motion was seconded by Sergeant At Arms Thompson. Motion passed by unanimous vote of the membership present.
- Announcement to kick off the monthly raffle. Tickets were sold and $135 was raised in support of the Lodge. The drawing was held at the conclusion of the meeting with Sister Mullins drawing the ticket. Brother Bennie Henderson was the winner and recipient of the pulitzer prize nominated book "On Killing" by LtCol Dave Grossman who had authographed the book.
New Business:
Due to the resignation of Brother Jensen from the position of Treasurer, an interim Treasurer needed to be found.
1st Vice President Enig nominated Brother Sease to fill the position.
Brother Sease accepted the nomination.
Secretary Thompson seconded the nomination.
By unanimous vote of the membership present Brother Sease was elected as Interim Treasurer until the November '08 elections.
Four new member applications had been received:
Officer Mullins from Bowie Police Department
Officer Parker from Bowie Police Department
Officer Padilla from Edmonston Police Department
Officer Tollison from WSSC Police Department
Discussion was held regarding new members. By unanimous vote the listed new members were voted in to the Lodge.

With no further business, motion was made by Trustee Borelli at 2145 hours to adjourn. Motion was seconded by 1st Vice President Enig.
Brother Madero offered a closing prayer.
Motion to adjourn was voted on and passed unanimously.
