Meetings notes December 13, 2007.
Meeting called to order by President Lee Donaldson at 2004 hours.

President Donaldson had no report

Secretary: Vacant at start of meeting
Treasurer: report held for discussion in old business.
Parliamentarian: No Report
Sergeant At Arms: No Report
Chaplain: Excused
State Trustee: Challenge coin update: due to a mistake in the artwork, our coins are not yet complete. They should be delivered prior to Christmas.
Old Business:
- Raising annual dues from $90 to $100: discussion was had on how this would help to offset the increase in per capita.
Trustee Borelli made the motion to raise the dues
Seconded by Parliamentarian Butler
By unanimus vote of the membership present, annual dues were raised to $100
- All membership renewals have been mailed.
- All membership cards will be mailed upon receipt of the dues.
- Failure to pay dues by the end of March '08 will result in being reported as "not in good standing".
- PAC paid to National Lodge
- Per Capita paid to State & National
- Announcement of the monthly raffle. The drawing was held at the conclusion of the meeting. Brother Fraley was the winner and recipient of the pulitzer prize nominated book "On Combat" by LtCol Dave Grossman who had authographed the book. Brother Flynn won the 50/50 raffle.
Financial Status of the Lodge:
President Donaldson reported that a mistake had been made in previous reporting of the lodge funds. As a result, and a recent review, it's come to light that the Lodge is not financially well off, though we are in no way in debt.
Discussion was held with two things primarily asked for:
1) More detailed accounting for revenues and expenses EACH MONTH at the meetings, and
2) Production of the Lodge checking account bank statments for review.
President Donaldson encouraged all members to promptly pay their dues to assist the Lodge.
President Donaldson asked any and all members to suggest and / or support any fund raising opportunities for the Lodge.
New Business:
Due to the resignation of Brother Swen Thompson from the position of secretary, an interim secretary needed to be found.
Trustee Borelli nominated Brother Madero to fill the position.
Brother Madero accepted the nomination.
Discussion was had about transitoning Brother Madero into the position in the most efficient manner.
Parliamentarian Butler seconded the nomination.
Sergeant at Arms Thompson added his support.
By unanimous vote of the membership present Brother Madero was elected as Interim Secretary until the November '08 elections.
Two new member applications had been received:
Officer Joe Hudson from the New Carrollton Police Department
Officer Katrina Davis from the Seat Pleasant Police Department
Discussion was held regarding new members. By unanimous vote the listed new members were voted in to the Lodge.
President Donaldson read a letter from National President Chuck Canterbury about the National Photo Alert program. National FOP has endorsed the program and recommends participation. More info can be found online at the National Photo Alert website.
Good of the Order:
Brother Jensen brought up the fact that our By-Laws need to be rewritten to document decisions and changes made in the past two years.
Discussion was held.
A By-Laws Committee comprised of Brothers Jensen, Davis and Madero was formed.
By-Laws update recommendations to be made by the end of June '08.
Brother AJ Ortiz of the Mt. Rainier Lodge is doing well. Has been reported as Cancer Free and is still recovering from the battle.
With no further business, motion was made by President Donaldson at 2052 hours to adjourn. Motion was seconded by Brother Davis.
Motion to adjourn was voted on and passed unanimously.
